Jock signing tonight

This is tonight - don't forget!

Gosh comics have just announced a special Halloween signing featuring renowned (Judge Dredd and The Losers) artist Jock and the writer Ram V
As it says here on their website...
Come join our evening of Halloween fun on Wednesday the 31st of October at 6-7pm as Jock and Ram V sign their latest works,  Wytches: Bad Egg Halloween Special and Batman: The Secret Files #1! - Serving as both a stand-alone story in the Wytches world and a prequel to the highly anticipated Wytches Vol 02, Bad Egg tells the story of Seb and Jackson - two innocent teenagers reared on opposite sides of the eternal struggle between good and evil.
Jock really needs no introduction: a British comics legend, whose work has stamped its influence on both the comics and cinematic worlds alike. From 2000AD, to The Losers, to Green Arrow, to Batman, to Wytches, his striking style looms large in the cultural landscape.
Mumbai-born Ram V is one of the hottest writers in the industry right now, bringing a host of Indian artistic talent with him on projects like Black Mumba, Paradiso, These Savage Shores and Grafity’s Wall. His eye for talent and natural gift for storytelling have really marked him out as one to watch.
Jock and Ram will be here on Halloween, the 31st October from 6-7pm!

If you'd like something signed but can't make it down on the day, please drop us a line at info@goshlondon.com for mail order or collection.

Crisis magazine - spin-off titles to collect - part 1

I'm working my way through collecting Crisis magazine from back in the '90s and have realised that there were a number of dedicated spin-off comics from the magazine, so without further ado let's see what's out there to collect. Part 1 today, part 2 coming soon...

These are all traditional US comic sized, none to hand so don't know page length or which issues (from Crisis) are reprinted in each issue. To be updated when I can find these.

The collected story all in one big volume (c.240 pages)

Scream & Misty 2 signing today

London's Gosh comics have announced a signing to celebrate the publication of the second Scream & Misty special
As they themselves say...

Dun dun dun! It’s back! Scream and Misty One-Shot returns for a second outing of old school ghouls and we’ve got another scream-a-riffic signing to go with it! Scary Simon Coleby, Grisly Guy Adams, Lycanthropic Lizzie Boyle, Jeepers John Stokes and Kreepers Kek-W will all be here from 1-2 pm on Saturday October 27th to put their spooky scribbles on your copies of the magazine! (They’re all lovely really).

Scream & Misty Special returns for 2018! Two of Britain’s best loved comics have reunited offering an anthology of brand new tales, guaranteed to terrify and entertain you this Halloween! Featuring more treats than tricks, including the further misdemeanours of Max the computer in The 13th Floor, ghoulish goings on with the undead WW1 pilot the Black Max, zombie and vampire DNA combine to create a brand new horror sensation called Decomposition Jones plus a tomb full of other tales from the realms of the Mist.

So come along and meet the ghoulish gang, and get yourself a signed copy of this year's creepiest comic! If you can't make it and would like a signed copy, drop us an email to info@goshlondon.com to arrange a reservation or mail order.

Carlos Ezquerra's new Eagle covers

I didn't read 2000ad a as kid, instead I read new Eagle, so Comrade Bronski was my first introduction into his work.

Comrade Bronski ran in the weekly comic from issue 259 (07/03/87) to 270 (23/05/87) and 272 (06/06/87) to 283 (22/08/87) - so a total of 24 episodes.

Oxfam bookshop Kingston - this Saturday

This Saturday there's a comic book pop-up shop in Kingston-upon-Thames Oxfam (which is near, but not to be confused with, their regular Kingston store)...

The address of the bookshop is 30 Old London Road (KT2 6QF) - the normal Oxfam shop in Kingston is at 16 Castle Street (KT1 1SS).

To give you an idea of what they might have for sale - these are some photos I took at their last event (back in May)...

The Happy Warrior is in ComicScene #3

For fans of the original 1950's Eagle magazine there's a treat in store this month with the new issue (#3) of Comic Scene magazine featuring a 2 page article on the Frank Bellamy illustrated portrayal of the Happy Warrior strip.

The Happy Warrior was the back page 'true life adventure' strip dedicated to the life of Winston Churchill. For Eagle this was the first time that a living person had been the subject of the feature.
Anyway, shameless plug over for an article written by, er, me, hope you enjoy the other articles as well.

Comic Scene is available to buy here

The VERY limited edition Happy Warrior - only 3 copies made

Compare the palette Bellamy uses in the darkest days of the war (below) with that of the Sudan (far below)...
