Ron Smith archive, part 3
A while ago the Ron Smith archive was sold off on ebay - I grabbed the images while I could, so here's the first part of those images, a rare glimpse inside the eclectic collection of a great artist...

Tank Girl - Carioca
A recent acquisition is this 3-part Tank Girl mini-series (from 2011/12) that I somehow managed missed back in the day. For me, it's not Tank Girl that's the main attraction here but rather close on 150 pages of Mike McMahon's art!
Mike's Wikipedia entry (here) lists this work as McMahon's only work after the year 2002. So, well worth looking out for.
One day, I'll do a piece on Mike's work for Sonic The Hedgehog comic, but I've got a bit more collecting to do on that front first.
Issue 1 - November 2011
Issue 2 - Decmber 2011
Issue 3 - January 2012

The Stainless Steel Rat - Eagle comics reprint
Listening recently to the always entertaining & informative 'Mega City bookclub' podcast (specifically episode 58) reminded me that Carlos Ezquerra had once drawn 'The Stainless Steel Rat' comicstrip.
These strips were reprinted in a 6-issue mini-series (in standard US comic book format) in 1985/6, covers are here - well worth hunting down!
Issue 1, dated October 1985
Issue 2, dated November 1985
Issue3, dated December 1985
Issue 4, dated January 1986
Issue 5, dated February 1986
Issue 6, dated March 1986
There's also a trade paperback collection...

The world of Wym - Any Lanning & John Carnell
Those creators of The Sleaze Brothers, Andy Lanning & John Carnell, are also the creators of this obscure kids title from 1990...The world of Wym.
There's a lack of info. about this on t'internet and in fact the only thing I could find about it is this blog link / youtube clip here which is the only evidence that I can prove all 6 issues of this title were actually produced!
Credits are as follows:
Creator / Artists = Andy Lanning
Creator / Writer = John Carnell
Co-creator / Artist = Anthony Williams
Lettering = Bambos Georgiou
Editor = Nancy Hazel
Managing editor = Floron Florenzo
Editorial Director = Etta saunders
Issue 1 seems easy to get hold of but all other issues are really hard to get hold of, I've picked up the only issues of issue 2 & 4 that I've ever seen.
The world of Wym, Clearmark publications, issue 1 (March 1990)
The world of Wym, Clearmark publications, issue 2 (April 1990)

Frank Bellamy - To be or not to be
If you missed out on the recent opportunity (in the November 2019 comic book postal auction) to acquire this early, early piece of Frank Bellamy artwork then not to worry it's back on sale!
Described as
The Catering Corps Sergeant in a dilemma over the troops tinned rations menu. (Probably hung in the Sgt's Mess!)
From the Bob Monkhouse archive
Indian ink and wash on card. 14 x 10 ins
It sold for £125 (according to Norman Boyd's amazing Frank Bellamy blog here) - but it's back on sale here for $1,725 (or offers).
I won't be bidding but I just wanted to grab a few of the images here because they were slightly higher resolution than when originally sold.

Steve Dillon - CMNI #40
Listening to the 2000ad Thrillcast episode remembering artist Steve Dillon I heard Richard Burton talking about using Steve on his fanzines back in the day. Knowing that Richard was most likely to be talking about Comic Media News International (CMNI) I've looked at them to check out Steve's contribution to this zine...

Steve Dillon - CMNI #39
Listening to the 2000ad Thrillcast episode remembering artist Steve Dillon I heard Richard Burton talking about using Steve on his fanzines back in the day. Knowing that Richard was most likely to be talking about Comic Media News International (CMNI) I've looked at them to check out Steve's contribution to this zine...
I looked at issue 38 yesterday (here) and I'll look at issue 40 tomorrow, but for now here's issue 39 (from May - June 1979)...
