Hit the jackpot

I'm always happy to feature comics free gifts on the blog especially more 'modern' ones - not just pre-war stuff given away with the regular issue of a comic.

So this is right up my street - a free gift from Jackpot comic given to all readers whose joke was judged the funniest of the week.

This is currently up for sale on ebay here - bidding starts at 99p and runs until early evening on Saturday. Good luck if you bid!

All the jokes...

The editor declare joke  #6 the winner

UPDATED: UKCAC programmes - part 2 (of 3)

I've recently look at a lot at the various programmes produced to tie-in with various comic conventions...

Bristol comic expo (2004-2014) is here
London comic festival 2003 is here
Kev Sutherland festival original art is here
A 'Lawless 2019' miscellany is here
Boys and Girls exhibitions of the 1950s and '60s is here
Glasgow comic art convention is here

UKCAC - part 1 is here

Today it's the second part of a look at that long running comic convention, the United Kingdom Comic Art Convention (UKCAC) - these are the best and longest programmes you can track down

Now updated with additional Kev Walker ABC Warriors art

UKCAC programme 1990, A4 sized, 112 pages, Garry Leach cover

UKCAC programme 1991, A4 sized, 96 pages, Simon Bisley cover

UKCAC programme 1992, A4 sized, 92 pages, Gary Erskine cover

Cover art for the schedule (usually just an insert for the programme; albeit these tend not survive whereas the 'main' programmes tend to last much better) by Kev Walker. Currently up for sale here

UKCAC programme 1993, A4 sized, 96 pages, Dave Gibbons cover

Cover art for the schedule (usually just an insert for the programme; albeit these tend not survive whereas the 'main' programmes tend to last much better) by Dean Ormston.

UPDATED: Roy of the Rovers - M&S merchandise

Back in 2012 Marks & Spencer carried an exclusive range of Roy of the Rovers merchandise - there's more than this just this pinball game to track down but you've got to start somewhere!

And now here's another bit of merchandise - a table football table!

Ian Kennedy Draws Judge Dredd

I was alerted to this Judge Dredd picture by Ian Kennedy too late  to feature it on the blog yesterday (when the eBay auction finished) so instead I've snaffled the images for posterity.

It sold for £275

The dangerous breakfast

A recent (fantastic) posting by Adrian Clarke on the "Marvel UK Comics" Facebook group alerted me to the existence of this particular comic - reckoned to be the rarest comic Marvel UK ever produced.

Not much is known about it except that it was produced to mark Kiss FM's 3rd birthday.

Maybe they produced other some (low print run) comics for other entities and we're just waiting to discover them.

Good luck tracking this down - these images are from a recent ebay sale (for £25).

The Starlogged blog covered it here

Check out all other mention of Marvel UK on the blog here

Earthspace promotional poster

A rare poster for Earthspace - this strip ran in 1978 in the Evening News as a 'Lance McLane' (not Jeff Hawke!). It's currently up for sale on ebay here with a buy it now price of £50 (or you can make an offer). The strip was by Jeff Hawke creator Sydney Jordan.

See notes here and here for publication details.
