Here we have a rare print, dating to the 70s/80s, of Simon Bisley's iconic Christ painting from his "Paintings from the Bible" series.
It was discovered in an Italian mercatina and is displayed in it's original Italian stucco frame.
I have never seen a copy of this anywhere else, and the leading expert on Bisley's work, who runs the Simon Bisley fans website, has confirmed that he was unaware that any prints of this original work existed, and concludes that it is an interesting and scarce find.
The poster is made from a material that has a sheen to it and it appears to possibly be washable, though I haven't tried....could be a thin vinyl? It reminds me of the tough, non-rip posters Athena used to sell in the 70s/80s.
It is in good condition, size 30 ins by 15.5 ins (inner frame measurements) but has been pasted onto its' backing rather inexpertly, giving it a slight wrinkle from the side angle but not quite as noticeable from the front, see pics. Due to the nature of the material I would imagine it may be possible to re-back it sympathetically.
