The art of Radio Times

The Art of Radio Times (by David Driver) is a book that every fan of British illustration (and illustrators) should be able to find room for on their bookshelf. At 250 pages long this large volume is crammed full of examples of work from the finest illustrators to grace the pages of the Radio Times.

The ccver is by Peter Brookes, long time cartoonist on the Times newspaper and progenitor of the Dan Blair cartoon strip - a lovely mash-up of Dan Dare and the politics/politicians of the late '90s and early '00s.
Here's a spread on Frank Bellamy...

Anyway, I could eulogise over this book forever but instead I thought I'd draw your attention to a very special edition of the book that's currently listed for sale here.

As the seller says...
A unique leather bound, gold foil blocked, slipcased, silver page edged, presentation copy of the 1981 BBC hardback book, The Art of Radio Times.
This was specially made for and given as a gift to John Holloran, by BBC Magazines in 1994. John Holloran owned BPC, the Printing company which printed the Radio Times for many years, so it is a very nice association.

A very lovely item - bidding start at £125 and the auction ends on Sunday night. Good luck!
