UPDATED: Dan Cornwell for 2000AD & the Megazine

I first got into Dan Cornwell's art when I first read Rok of the Reds a few years back, I love his art style and was delighted when his work started appearing in 2000AD. I don't read the prog regularly but I pick it up when Dan's work has been it, so I thought I'd try and list out all the issue of the prog / Megazine his work has appeared in - a 'prog slog' if you like. Listing all these out highlighted a couple of issues that I'd missed, gah!

I'm pretty confident that I've listed all his work but if you spot anything I've missed then just shout.

So then, onwards for the prog slog...

Brian Bolland apex edition

More details about the upcoming Judge Dredd by Brian Bolland apex edition have been announced - including details of a special signed & numbered edition as they say here . Details are reproduced below...

The first of two editions of the Judge Dredd by Brian Bolland Apex Edition will be available to pre-order from this Wednesday.
Featuring high-resolution scans of original artwork, the Apex Edition is a deluxe, over-sized facsimile edition featuring some of Bolland’s most famous artwork on Judge Dredd, as well as a gallery of his extraordinary covers.

The signed slipcase edition, available exclusively from 2000AD.com, comes with a slipcase featuring both pencils and finished art from one of the legendary artist’s Judge Dredd covers. It will also feature a bound page which will be individually numbered and signed by Bolland, with art created exclusively for this slipcase edition.

The special slipcase edition will be available to pre-order from 12pm BST on Wednesday 4 August until 12pm BST on Friday 8 October. This edition – priced at £150 – is available exclusively from the 2000 AD webshop and will not be reprinted.

The standard trade edition – priced at £65 – will be available to pre-order from the 2000 AD webshop from Friday 8 October.
Comic book stores will be able to order the standard trade edition through the October 2021 edition of Diamond Distribution’s Previews magazine.

Acclaimed as one of the greatest artists of his generation for his work on such titles as Camelot 3000 and Batman: The Killing Joke, Brian Bolland’s work on Judge Dredd helped catapult both the series and Bolland himself to international acclaim.

His incredible black and white art is showcased in this deluxe, over-sized facsimile edition featuring new high-resolution scans of his original art from 2000 AD showing Bolland’s delicate inking brushwork in unprecedented detail, as well as the titles and word balloons placed over it at the time by IPC’s art team. It promises to be an unmissable collection for fans of comics and of fine art.
This book will include pages from the Judge Dredd epics – including ‘The Cursed Earth’, ‘The Day the Law Died’, ‘The Judge Child Quest’, and Bolland’s masterpiece ‘Judge Death Lives’. Also included is a gallery of covers ranging from 2000 AD to the Judge Dredd reprints published by Eagle Comics, which brought Brian to the attention of American readers and show off Bolland’s inventiveness and sardonic humour.

Original comic artwork for sale

Over on ebay I've spotted a couple of real comic art rarities being offered for sale by the same seller...

First up is this page by ken Reid (bids from £1,000 or best offers) which the seller suggests was a speculative piece done for Topps Cards for a (monster) series that never came to fruition.

The same seller is also offering this stunning painting by Massimo Belardinelli. This is priced at opening bids of £650 (or make an offer). As you'll see from the caption this piece was originally done for Steve MacManus (who isn't the seller).
