I shared my first batch of Lawless photos (here) and now I've found some more. This time from the fantastic display of original comic art that had been laid on. Let's see what was on display...

Action Man annual 1985

I'm always interested in a Fleetway annual - this is an interesting one as it's not associated with a contemporary comic...

The artists used are a cut what you might expect from a 'spin-off' annual and some of the contents look like it's been recycled from the Fleetway vaults (having been printed elsewhere before)...

...Ron Turner then gets 2 pages to illustrate

...This is by Frank Humphris and I'm sure has been printed elsewhere...

Plenty of very good artists there and well worth hunting down.

Look Alive - issue 1 - Don Lawrence art and more

Following on from some online chat at the weekend about Don Lawrence dinosaur art (which has been neatly summarised here) I promised I'd fetch a few more images out from the comic magazine they originally came from...

So here we have some pages from Look Alive #1...

Look Alive only lasted 5 issues, was edited by Kelvin Gosnell and was ambitiously priced at 40p (when new Eagle was half the price).

In memoriam (3) - Wilf Hardy

Jeremy Briggs has reported on the death of aviation artist Wilf Hardy...


Vulcan To The Sky Trust announced it in their latest newsletter saying, "We send our condolences to the family of Wilfred Hardy GAvA who died on the 4th September this year. Wilf was a well-respected aviation artist and a supporter of XH558. His illustration The Ghost from Goose Bay is the basis of our extremely popular Christmas card and he had no hesitation in granting us permission for its use."
Wilf was a stalwart of technology illustrations in, amongst other titles, Look and Learn magazine and its siblings, including my favourite Speed and Power. I never knew that much about him but I did do this piece on his non-L&L aviation covers for the Royal International Air Tattoo over on Steve Holland's Bear Alley some nine years ago.
