Lieutenant Blueberry - Egmont/Methuen reprints

Continuing my look at the reprints here in the UK of the work of Jean Giraud / Moebius (see here and here) I should also flag up the earliest (and thinnest!) reprint volumes...

Like all other volumes highlighted so far these volumes are pretty pricey to get hold of these days.

Published in 1977 this first volume, like all the others highlighted here, look a lot like a 'normal' Asterix / Tintin volume. This has 46 pages and, again like most Asterix books, it's translated by Anthea Bell & Derek Hockridge.

This second volume was also published in 1977 (and was also translated by Anthea Bell & Derek Hockridge).

This is the volume I'm missing

1970s Smurf volumes

I've long had a set of Tintin and Asterix books on my shelves - a much harder set to collect are these 10 volumes of Smurfs book from the 1970, translated by Anthea Bell & Derek Hockridge (just like the Asterix books) - good luck hunting them down...

The Black Stallion - French bande desinée reprints

From the back of the blog cupboard comes this softcover 46 page bande desinée reprint (published in 1982)

...the story is as follows...
Alec Ramsay is shipwrecked - along with the formidable stallion ne names Black. Gradually he trains the animal and when they are rescued insists on keeping him. Secretly he trains the Black to race.

There was a further volume...

...Satan, the Black Stallion's colt, had a reputation as the fastest racehorse in the world. Then from far-off Arabia came the Black! Could the speed of a desert-raised stallion match that of his son trained only to race?

There's a 3rd volume (which I don't own - hence the poor image quality)…
