A while ago I looked at Steve's contribution to 'newszine' Comic Media News International...

UPDATED: UKCAC programmes - part 2 (of 3)

I've recently look at a lot at the various programmes produced to tie-in with various comic conventions...

Bristol comic expo (2004-2014) is here
London comic festival 2003 is here
Kev Sutherland festival original art is here
A 'Lawless 2019' miscellany is here
Boys and Girls exhibitions of the 1950s and '60s is here
Glasgow comic art convention is here

Today it's the second part of a look at that long running comic convention, the United Kingdom Comic Art Convention (UKCAC) - these are the best and longest programmes you can track down

Now updated with additional Simon Bisley Mean Machine art

UKCAC programme 1990, A4 sized, 112 pages, Garry Leach cover

swiped from the 2000AD forums (c/o a tip off from Facebook user Roland Ungoed-Thomas)

UKCAC programme 1991, A4 sized, 96 pages, Simon Bisley cover

UKCAC programme 1992, A4 sized, 92 pages, Gary Erskine cover

Cover art for the schedule (usually just an insert for the programme; albeit these tend not survive whereas the 'main' programmes tend to last much better) by Kev Walker. Currently up for sale here

UKCAC programme 1993, A4 sized, 96 pages, Dave Gibbons cover

Cover art for the schedule (usually just an insert for the programme; albeit these tend not survive whereas the 'main' programmes tend to last much better) by Dean Ormston.

Latest Catawiki auction now open for bids

The latest Catawiki auction is now open for bidding (with the auction closing, as ever, on Thursday evening) and I've picked out my British comic art highlights...

This is a Modesty Blaise strip by Romero (from a 1974 story 'Take me to your leader')

This is a 1973 Robot Archie page from the 'Lost World' story

This is a Rogue Trooper page (by Kev Walker) from the 2000AD Winter special of 1988

Catawiki auction - closes 26th May 2022

The latest Catawiki auction is now open for bidding - slightly less art than usual but a couple of unusual pieces meant that I thought this week's auction still worth covering.

This Robot Archie page from the 1973 LION story 'The lost world'

This Janus Stark lot from his appearance in Mon Journal - the cover is credited to Guido Zamperoni and the interior art to Juan Garcia Quiros. A British character rather than British artwork then.

This Strontium Dog page by Kev Walker (from the 1998 2000AD Winter special)
