vintage DC Thomson art up for sale soon

Collectors of original illustrations / cartoons /comic art will hopefully find an upcoming auction in Essex has something for them. Lots 125-160 in this sale on 1st October contains art by Dudley D Watkins, Charles Grigg, David Law, James McConnell, Mac, Jak, Larry, Gerald Scarfe and more. More Charles Grigg saucy postcard art up for sale

A few weeks back (here to be precise) I looked at some original postcard art by DC Thomson stalwart Charles Grigg that had come up for sale. All 3 pieces had opening bids of £39.99 but all sold for in excess of £100! 

Then a 2nd batch (covered on this post) - 4 pieces, all with a starting bid of £39.99, all went for £100+ (with the top price being £161)

Anyway the same seller, perhaps inspired by those prices, has now listed a further 4 pieces of art. Details are as follows but note that all bids close mid-afternoon today (2nd November) - good luck if you bid!

I was first alerted to the talent of DC Thomson stalwart Charlie 'Chas' Grigg by this article on 'Down the tubes' all about the new biography of Grigg that had just been published. I've read the book and can recommend it.

Anyway, I've just spotted that 3 of his original saucy postcard illustrations are currently up for sale on ebay - the auctions finish tomorrow.

Now updated with prices achieved - shown in red
