UPDATED: major museum publications

As ever with blog posts sometime you've just got to start somewhere. So today I want to start compiling a list of books / exhibitions about comics / cartoons / caricaturing that have been held by major museums and galleries.

Now updated with this catalogue from the National Portrait Gallery's 1976 exhibition of cartoons from Vanity Fair.

I'll start the ball rolling with this publication by the V&A museum. It's a catalogue of a collection of prints in the possession of the Department of Prints and Drawings of the Victoria and Albert Museum

More suggestions welcome for other such publications!

Roxy comic - the Kickstarter rewards

I'm just capturing here for future reference the rewards that were available as part of the Roxy Kickstarter campaign that Rebellion ran back in July/August (2024).

This one's for all future Roxy collectors!

Ben & Katie - newspaper strip

As a 'sequel' to yesterday's post about George and Lynne here's another 'strip' reprint collection that collectors should be on the lookout for. Yes, it's George & Lynne knockoff's Ben & Katie

According to this link the story was indeed a rip-off of George & Lynne
This single volume of reprints was produced in 1989.
The strip ran from 1988-97 and was later illustrated by Luis Roca.

George & Lynne reprints

Written by Conrad Frost and with art by Josep Gual it's the very popular back in the day "George and Lynne". It was so popular I'm mystified as to why there were only 2 reprint volumes - perhaps the book trade were prudish about stocking these volumes on their shelves?

"The life of George & Lynne", 1986, £1.95

George and Lynne, 1989, £1.95

UPDATED: Flintstones comic - 1994/5

I'm filing this under '90s comics I don't know enough about' - I know that issue 1 came out with a cover date of August 1994 and that issue 11 is cover dated March 1995. What I don't know is how many issues were there and when did it go fortnightly (as it must have done to get to 10 issues by February when issue #1 only came out in August)? Hopefully I'll be able to update this at some point in the future.

This is not to be confused with the Marvel UK title 'Flintstones and friends'.

Now updated with covers for issues 17, 18 & 19 - so this is three issues longer than I knew about until now.

The Flintstones comic, issue #1, August 1994, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #2, September 1994, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #3, October 1994, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #4, 22nd October - 5th November 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #5, 5th November - 18th November 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #6, 19th November - 2nd December 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #7, 3rd December - 16th December 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #8, 17th December - 30th December 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #9, 31st December - 13th January 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #10, February 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #11, March 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #12, April 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #13, May 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #14, June 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #15, July 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #16, August 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #17, September 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #18, October 1995, 95p

The Flintstones comic, issue #19, November 1995, 95p

and it looks like you could buy official folders to put your comics in
