Issue 1 was dated 13th August 2009 - 9th September 2009

Issue 2 was dated 10th September 2009 - 7th October 2009

Issue 3 was dated 8th October - 4th November 2009 

Issue 4 was dated 5th November - 2nd December 2009

Issue 5 was dated 3rd December 2009 - 6th January 2010

Issue 6 was dated 7th January 2010 - 3rd February 2010

Titan comics - GI Joe - the rise of Cobra

I've looked before at the various titles produced by Titan Comics. They're typically short-lived and tied in to some pop culture event / film like Indiana Jones, The X Files, Tomb Raider and plenty others. Find all previous blog posts about them here. 

Today it's a shout-out for the GI Joe - the rise of Cobra comic series from 2009. Just the 6 issues. 

As far as I can tell these are the issue dates...

Issue 1 was dated 13th August 2009 - 9th September 2009

Unique Dandy comic up for sale this week

There's a fascinating copy of The Dandy up for sale here, previously owned by artist Duncan Scott, who died in 2021- as the seller explains...

Published by DC Thomson October 30th 2010.

This comic is number 26 of only 37 that were created specifically for the artists and staff working on The Dandy relaunch comic. The back cover was originally left blank for signatures etc.

This copy was given to DC Thomson artist Duncan Scott. Later on before his death he agreed on my request to draw The Bash Street Kids, Colin the Vet and The Neds.

Tom Paterson original art for sale

I've chanced across an eBay seller with a couple of pieces of original comic art by (the always magnificent) Tom Paterson up for sale. 

The first is here - bids open at £450 for this 1987 Whizzer and Chips cover

The second is here and is a Bash Street strip from The Beano dated August 28th 2010 - bids open at £215

Wasted magazine - a primer

I didn't get Wasted when it originally came out, being put off by the drugs-based content, it seems hard to acquire these days and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality in issue #1.

Battle 'fan' art by professional comic artists

I thought I'd just highlight some Battle 'fan' art by 2 comic creators who, as well as being professional comic creators, are clearly also fans of Battle.

First up is Graeme Neil Reid (his website is here) and he's worked for 2000AD, Commando and plenty more besides. Here's a US sized (28 pages) comic that he put together for a convention in 2010...

...and you'll see that he's included some classic Battle characters in it...

..and then there's this (from 1996)...

...and Garen 'The Rainbow orchid' Ewing contributes a drawing of Charley Bourne in the mud of the Somme

As you can read on Graeme's blog here he only produced 30 copies so good luck tracking down a copy!

Bristol comic expo, 2004-2014

I've recently looked here at the London 2003 comic festival but now I want to look at the conventions that succeeded the events that Kev Sutherland ran. According to wikipedia...the Bristol international comic & small press expo ran from 2004 until 2014. That should mean that there are plenty of convention programmes out there to collect.
