Chaos City comics - AIDS awareness

I've looked before (here to be precise) about some rare Martha Washington goes to war variants that were produced by Chaos City comics (in St Albans). Turns out these weren't the only comics they produced...

Next up is an AIDS awareness comic that was produced at the end of 1993. It looks like this...
(just search "chaos city comics" on ebay and you'll find a few examples for sale - this issue is for sale here). This, according to an article on page 15 of the November 1993 issue of Comics International was limited to a print run of 10,000 copies and retailed for £4.95 - cover is by Simon Bisley.

There was also a limited edition version available - limited to just 1,000 copies that retailed for £24.95 - the cover artist is uncredited.

There was also a 'gold' variant. Original price and print run are unknown to me. This seems easier to get hold of than the above issue. This copy for sale here

The list of contributors includes Dave Gibbons, Simon Bisley, David Leach, Bryam Hitch, Henry Flint, Liam Sharp, Charlie Adlard, Dave Taylor, John Ridgway, Elitta Fell and plenty more!

Heritage auctions - London, part 2

Here's a few images from the recent event (11th Feb 2026) at the Heritage Auctions gallery in central London. Event seemed to go well - they've promised to organise more!

Art is up for auction at either auction 7461 (here) or 7462 (here) at the end of Feb/start of March. Good luck if you bid!

Simon Bisley paints Jesus

To get us in the mood for Christmas here's some Simon Bisley...

The item was described thus...

Here we have a rare print, dating to the 70s/80s, of Simon Bisley's iconic Christ painting from his "Paintings from the Bible" series.

It was discovered in an Italian mercatina and is displayed in it's original Italian stucco frame.

I have never seen a copy of this anywhere else, and the leading expert on Bisley's work, who runs the Simon Bisley fans website, has confirmed that he was unaware that any  prints of this original work existed, and concludes that it is an interesting and scarce find.

The poster is made from a material that has a sheen to it and it appears to possibly be washable, though I haven't tried....could be a thin vinyl? It reminds me of the tough, non-rip posters Athena used to sell in the 70s/80s.

It is in good condition, size 30 ins by 15.5 ins (inner frame measurements)  but has been pasted onto its'  backing rather inexpertly, giving it a slight wrinkle from the side angle but not quite as noticeable from the front, see pics. Due to the nature of the material I would imagine it may be possible to re-back it sympathetically.

UPDATED: Comic Speculator News (1992-94)

I've now added in covers for issues 12, 13 & 15 for this update

Inspired by episode 342 of the Awesome Comics Podcast (check it out here) I thought I'd remind myself of the '90s speculator boom nonsense by pulling together my issues of the British answer to Wizard that was Comic speculator news. It lasted 13 issues in total, here's what you missed...

looks like it's been run off on a photocopier - single sided photocopying at its best!

it then seems to have undergone a name change to...
Comic News #13, March 1994
it's now free (rather than 55p). It COULD have been an entirely separate title but I reckon that if issue #12 of CSN came out in Feb 1994 and this is issue #13 and is dated March 1994 then I reckon it's the same publication.
