I've looked before at independent comics publisher Phoenix Press...

...and here's another addition to their work, yes it's the "Saban's VR Troopers - official 3D comic" - a tie-in to the populat TV series of the time (1995/6).

The Phoenix Press title is definitely much harder to find than the version that Marvel published. The art (and writing) in these comics is uncredited and might best be described as competent.

UPDATE (22/03/26) - I now know that there was an English language version of issue #7. That makes me think that there should also be a English language version of issue #8. But I've never seen it so I can't be 100% sure (but then I hadn't seen the English language version of #7 until very recently).

Now updated with a much better image for the cover to issue #2 (and I've now completed my Iznogoud comic collection, yay!)

An oddity from 1996 then...it's the Iznogoud comic. For more details of Iznogoud why not checkout his wikipedia entry here?
Art is by Jean Tabary. This was just a 3 issue run and is hard to get hold of.

Phoneix Press? Not come across them before - they printed at least one other title - Phantom 2040 - as well as a VR Troopers 3D comic but not sure what else. If you have any ideas, just let me know. 

Phantom 2040 was a 4 issue mini-series printed (in the USA) in 1995 and re-imagined the legendary Phantom character (created by Lee Falk) in, I'm guessing, the year 2040. Cover images can be found here

Phantom 2040 (Phoenix press)

A rare departure for me today as I highlight a US comic series...The reason? Well a while ago I looked at the Iznogoud comic series (here) and realised that I didn't know much about the publisher Phoenix Press. Some quick googling brings up the title Phantom 2040. Its wikipedia entry (here) gives details of the series. There was a 4-issue series produced May-July 1995, covers below...

These covers look like they'd been used for the Phoenix Press issues (below) - they're undated (but the copyright date is for 1996) but here's the cover to issue 1...

The Phantom wiki page (here) notes that the US 4-issue series became a 3-issue series here in the UK. One and a half stories were squeezed into UK issues 1 & 2 and the 4th story was reprinted in issue 3.

Phoenix press also produced a "VR Troopers - 3D" comic - but that's a post for another day but I wonder if they produced any other titles - let me know if you come across anything else.

Art is by Goscinny (the man who drew Asterix - and much else besides). This was just a 3 issue run and is hard to get hold of.
