GCAC 1992

Following a recent post about the 1991 Glasgow Comic Art Convention brochure (here) Paul Michael Moon Rogers was kind enough to get in touch with to say

Hi Richard. I saw your post about the 1991 Glasgow Convention programme and followed that to your blog. On your blog you also have the 1992 programme. My wife and I travelled from New Zealand to attend that 1992 Convention (as well as UKCAC). I couldn't resist bidding and subsequently winning these two pieces in the Glasgow art auction .... great pieces by Paul Johnson and Angus Mckie. Roy of the Rovers monthly 1992-3

Here's the start of a covers gallery for Roy of the Rovers monthly 1992-3.

The title (a successor to The best of Roy of the Rovers monthly which ended in June 1990 after 27 issues) ran for 7 issues in 1990 (July-December); then 12 issues in 1991; 12 issues in 1992 and then a final issue in January 1993. A total of 32 issues. The best of Roy of the Rovers monthly had lasted for 27 issues before it. So, a total of 59 issues to collect.

I'm currently looking for the Dec 91 issue; all the 1992 issues and the 1993 issues.

I'm always happy to include other mentions of the Cartoon Art Trust in publications. I stumbled across this 1992 book celebrating 200 years since the birth of illustrator George Cruikshank.

Associated with the exhibition was this booklet. A recent ebay seller described it thus...

UPDATED: Fleetway Editions - Duck Tales

I'm filing this (for now) under the heading of 'comics I know nothing about'. I mean there are a LOT of Disney comics out there and I'm not going to try and start cataloging them all - it'd be a nightmare.

This on the other hand looks quite intriguing. '90 comics, high quality cover. It lasted at least 2 issues - the 2nd image below says that issue '2 will be on sale on 14th May 1992. The 3rd image below shows a copy of that 2nd issue so it definitely exists. Were there any further issues though?? Let's hope so. The 2nd image also tells us that this was published by Fleetway Editions.

Update: covers for issues 3-11 have now been identified thanks to this astonishing Disney comics resource (this is where the cover images are taken).
