Action cover (1976) - Colin Wyatt

This auction lot (here) caught my eye some months ago...it was described thus...

Action Comic 4th Of December 1976 With Front Cover Concept Drawing By Colin Wyatt. 

This was the first issue of the re-launched Action comic. Never seen a rough cover sketch for Action before. I'm unclear who drew the published cover.

Action comic 23rd October 1976 up for sale!

These rarities are up for sale today - good luck if you bid!

Auctioneers Staceys are in the process of finalising an online auction for rare material from the collection of former Action staffer Colin Wyatt. They say...

Here At Staceys Auctions we are proud to be Selling a small Part of Famous Illustrator and Writer Colin Wyatts Comic Art Collection. Colin Joined an art department at the Amalgamated press- later to become I.P.C Magazines. He worked on young childrens comics such as Tiny Totts. Jack and Jill. And Playhour for almost 20 Years.He Began Disney Work in 1972. Producing covers and posters for many Disney annuals. Monthlies and weeklies published by I.P.C. In addition he illustrated most of the free gift inserts for Disney Comics. In 1975 he joined the Staff of Action Comic and went on to 2000 A.D. where he became art Editor in 1978.in 1985 he created a Visual concept for the Poddington Peas. Which later became an animated series shown regularly on BBC. T.v. Since then he has illustrated dozens of well known characters. From Noddy to Thomas the Tank Engine.

There are a number of rarities in the sale and here are just a few of them...

UPDATED: Cartoon Aid

I've looked before at publications associated with the Cartoon Aid charity (like Band Aid but with more cartoons and less Bob Geldof) - if you missed them they are as follows...

As a follow-up to my last post on the Cartoon Aid book I've noticed some other interesting snippets...

Turns out that as well as this 'regular' edition...

...there was also the opportunity to get the book in this 'wallet' as well! This has just sold on ebay

..but this item here is still available (albeit for £255!) - it caught my eye for two reasons:
a). the price
b). the reason for the price - which it turns out where the sketches inside the book which (according to the item description)

A rare chance to find a copy signed by various artists (see below) on press day. 

Inscribed to (and drawn) for Sarah (a BBC assistant attached to the event for the day) by some of the artists. 

The artists that have drawn in the book have been confirmed as:
