I've looked before at John Cooper's work (here) and also the character Johnny Red (here) so I thought I'd highlight another page of John Cooper's Johnny Red artwork currently for sale (not by me!) on eBay. Check it out here

The listing highlights is as being originally printed in Battle Action #228 dated 8th November 1989.

At the time of writing the bids are up to £41 (but reserve not met) - but there is a buy it now option of £290.

Note that the last time I reported on this page bidding went up to £382 but the reserve wasn't met

'Johnny Red' art for sale

Back in early February (here) saw someone splash out £670 on a page of John Cooper artwork for Johnny Red (from the pages of Battle). If you missed out then...not to worry as I've spotted another page up for auction.

It's for sale here (in the USA) and is taken from the 12th May 1979 issue of Battle. At the time of typing bids have reached $350 and it has about 1.5 days left to run.

Boom! Final price was $625

Keith Burns double page Johnny Red spread

Friend of the blog Norman Boyd has pointed me here where US auction house Heritage Auctions have a page of Keith Burns art from his Johnny Red work up for auction.

The (coloured) pages appeared as pages 2 & 3 of issue 5 (dated March 2016) entitled Bastards and suckers.

As I type the bid is currently $62 (before buyer's premium) - it has 14 days to go (so I think it ends on 12th March). I'm sure the hammer price won't be $62.

Over here on that ebay a page of Johnny Red artwork has just gone up for sale (I'm not the seller) - at the time of writing bids are at £51 and the reserve price hasn't been met.

Battle heroes - sketches by Patrick Goddard

If you've been following artist Patrick Goddard's (@PaddyGod1) recent sketches for October you'll know that while he didn't quite manage one a day he did draw a very respectable 22 characters from British and American comics.

The first batch of these is now up for sale on his ebay store - and I've picked out (below) a few of the heroes of Battle that he drew - namely Major Eazy, Johnny 'Red' Redburn and Charley Bourne

The sketches are A5 size and come with the preliminary pencil sketch too - good luck if you bid

 

Johnny Red original artwork for sale

Any Battle fans out there should head over to ebay where there's a rare opportunity to get hold of the original artwork for a page of Johnny Red artwork by John Cooper.

Taken from Battle 485 (page 22) Johnny only appears in the final frame.
