UPDATED: Marvel UK's 'Rugrats' comics

I've looked at all sort of Marvel (UK) comics on the blog just click on this link to check 'em all out but today it's a new title for me - yes it's Rugrats the comic. I'm unclear how long this actually lasted. I know it lasted at least 24 issues (see cover scan below) and issues were listed in Comics International up to #31 [in CI issue 94] but Comics International #95 has an issue listed but no issue number. So, issue 32 seems like the likeliest highest number that Rugrats could have reached but I'd be delighted to know for sure.

UPDATE: the letterer Gordon Robson has been in touch to say that issue 29 was (he believes) the final issue. I have therefore adjusted the listing below.

Dan Dare - art from the 1979 2000AD annual

Here's a recent spot on ebay (here) for two pages of Dan Dare art from the 1979 2000AD annual (specifically pages 60 & 62).

Art is by Dave Harwood Adrian Beeton [there's a character on page 9 of the strip with 'Beeton' written on his spacecuit]. My thanks to Steve Winders for this information.

At the time of typing the price is £250 and there's already one bidder - bidding closes on the 10th October @ 19:35 [UK time]

The nameless ravisher - Jose Ortiz original art

I've just spotted here a dozen stunning pages of Vampirella art by new Eagle legend (ok, comics legend) Jose Ortiz.

At the time of typing 219 bids have pushed the price of these 12 pages up to £3,450 - bidding closes at 9pm on Sunday 3rd October.

6 pages of Eric Bradbury's 2000AD art up for sale

I've only just spotted this particular online auction so apologies for the short window for bidding.

Anyhow, 6 pages of Eric Bradbury art from prog 212 (16th May 1981) is currently up for sale here - as I type this the price is £1,520 (before auction fees). 

The auction closes at 9pm on Sunday 3rd October - good luck if you bid!

MACH 1 original art from prog 4

I seem to have been covering early 2000AD a lot recently but another really early lot is currently up for sale here

The listing is for 2 original pages (page 25 & 27) and two 'stat boards' (page 22 & 23) for prog 4 - dated 19th March 1977.

On the image above (bottom right) you can see the note JNP13 indicating that this was for Juvenile New Publication 13 - this was the in-house reference for 2000AD pre-launch. I assume the words after that "...room 2012 KSR" mean room 2012 [presumably room 12 on the 20th floor] of King's Reach Tower and indicate the room in which 2000AD was being conceived.

At the time of typing the price has been bid up to £341 - update...the final sale price was £1,287

Just published (Autumn 2021) - and available here - are this pair of books on the 'golden age' of British comics.

Alan's other books that he's published since Autumn 2020 now all seem to be out of print (apart from 'The fun factory' volume) - so I'd order these books soon if you want them.
