Eaglecon 80 - part 2

It occurs to me that I've not covered anything to do with the very first Eagle comic convention - Eaglecon 80. A recent sale by ace ebay seller phil-comics (here) of one of the awards from Eaglecon 80 (see below) for £155 has inspired me to start looking images.

UPDATED: Nemesis the ride the comic

I'd love to have a copy of this comic in my collection - yes it's a tie-in comic for a theme park ride at Alton Towers! Of course it is.

Ham Dare, Oink annual 1989

All these images are c/o Lew Stringer who recently auctioned off 3 pages of the Dan Dare parody strip Ham Dare. The pages sold for £609 - a great price! Ham Dare really is the best Dan Dare parody strip ever and the art of (the late) Malcolm Douglas really is great. So many authentic details from both writer & artist show the high regard they held for the original Dare strip. 

Ham Dare appeared in Oink! issues 14-19, the 1988 annual, the 1989 annual and the 1989 holiday special

Jim Baikie art auctioned off

I only spotted these pieces of Jim Baikie artwork too late in the day to put 'em on the blog yesterday so instead I'll just record the pieces sold and the prices realised...

These were all part of the Marvel, DC and Independent comic books auction held by Excalibur auctions Ltd on 6th April 2024.

All prices realised are the 'hammer' price (so before any relevant additional fees of 28.5%)
