2000AD exhibition - Cartoon Museum, London, Jan 2017

Future Shock!

Just a quick heads up that the cartoon museum (just by the British Museum in central London) will be holding, next January, an exhibition to celebrate 2017 being the 40th anniversary of 2000AD

The exhibition will occupy the main gallery space and contain 70+ pieces of artwork

Pat Mills reveals he is writing a series of novels with Kevin O'Neill

In news that is sure to cause excitement amongst comic fans everywhere Pat Mills has revealed that he ha started writing a series of novels with Kevin O'Neill,


Writing on his Millsverse website (http://www.millsverse.com/) he says


"...I'm in the middle of writing the first text novel in a series with Kevin O'Neill that could be described as a darkly humorous alternative history of UK comics publishing in the 1970s. And right this very week I'm writing the fictional account of how Misty was created. You could say, it's my own vision of how Misty could have been.


The novel series is called Read Em And Weep. Volume one is called Serial Killer. Did I mention that it's also a thriller?


If you're a fan of murder mysteries, flawed and eccentric characters, 70s nostalgia, insider knowledge on creating comics, childhood revenge, and film noir (it's got a lot of noir!), you'll probably like Read Em And Weep. It's due out in February 2017 and volume 2 will be published later the same year.

Hachette already publish a number of partworks, but they've just launched a new one, which looks like being essential reading to any Transformers fans out there.

I was familiar with Judge Dredd one, the Dr Who one and the Marvel ultimate Graphic novels one but not the Warhammer 40k one.


Not all of these series will last very long in the shops as they quickly move onto full-price subscription mode. The Forbidden Planet shop on Shaftesbury Avenue in London stocks the Dredd and the Dr Who title, but it's  a long time since I saw either in a proper newsagent.


I don't know enough about these stories to say when the Marvel US/UK stories would start and stop on such a partwork but we know those stories will feature as the blurb loudly proclaims...
