UPDATED Space Kingley - annuals & more

I've long thought of adding to all my '50s space heroes posts on here by adding something about a slightly more forgotten space hero - yes, it's Captain "Space" Kingley. The Book Palace currently have the 3 Space Kingley annuals for sale signed by (artist) Ron Jobson. Links are as follows...

The first two annuals clearly have dustwrappers; no sign of a wrapper on the third one.

For sale here

For sale here

I've also spotted this link to Down The Tubes where there's a Space Kingley jigsaw - apparently there were 4 different jigsaws in total

Up for sale today is this lot of Dan Dare themed material which contains this Space Kingley jigsaw - good luck if you bid

That just leaves just two more jigsaws to find

• Ron Jobson’s career was covered by Norman Wright and David Ashford in Book and Magazine Collector Issue 320 in 2011. You may be able to find a back issue on AmazonUK (Affiliate Link)

Johnny Nemo posters

There's always room on the blog for Brett Ewins art and there's definitely always room for Johnny Nemo as well. Here are some itmes that I've spotted on ebay recently - Johnny Nemo posters by Brett Ewins. I'm assuming there are probably other posters out there, but you've got to start somewhere with this stuff.

Do let me know of any posters that I could include in a future update - thanks!

Kit Carson's autograph book

I'm always happy to include printed comics ephemera on the blog (see plenty of past posts about Eagle / Swift / Robin / Girl ephemera) but today it's the turn of someone new.

As it proclaims on the front overs - specially produced for readers of COMET comic - yes it's Kit Carson's autograph book of cowboy heroes. Kit was a huge star of '50s comics (along with lots of other cowboy heroes) but this is the first piece of printed ephemera I've seen that features him. Got any more? Just let me know!

CCGB - Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain

I've looked before at the Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain (CCGB) and some of the material that is out there for collectors.

There's a members handbook herehere and here

The book 'It's all here in black and white' is here

22nd annual birthday lunch is here

Since then I've come across further items that the club produced...

This was produced in 1964 (the club was formed in 1960)

This was produced (originally) in 1963 as British Cartoonists Year Book 1964 - this edition was published in March 1965

These were from a 1979 flight to New York

This was produced in 1989...

Unique Dandy comic up for sale this week

There's a fascinating copy of The Dandy up for sale here, previously owned by artist Duncan Scott, who died in 2021- as the seller explains...

Published by DC Thomson October 30th 2010.

This comic is number 26 of only 37 that were created specifically for the artists and staff working on The Dandy relaunch comic. The back cover was originally left blank for signatures etc.

This copy was given to DC Thomson artist Duncan Scott. Later on before his death he agreed on my request to draw The Bash Street Kids, Colin the Vet and The Neds.

...the auction runs until Tuesday lunchtime - good luck if you bid!
